UM Health-Sparrow Ionia Gift Shop

Visit the UM Health-Sparrow Ionia Gift Shop for items ranging from candy, cards and stuffed animals to holiday décor, books, unique jewelry and other decorative items and gifts. The Gift Shop is run by Ionia Volunteers and is currently open Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Chapel

Thanks to the generosity of the UM Health-Sparrow Ionia Healthcare Advocates we have a beautiful chapel for those who would like a quieter, more private place to meditate. The Chapel is located on the second floor, next to the Surgical Waiting area.  Ionia welcomes volunteer chaplains that can assist our patients and their family members who may need spiritual guidance on their journey.

Healing Garden

Healing Garden

The natural garden located outside the dining area on the first floor, was built with the support of the Rotary Club of Ionia, and is meant to be a place of respite for patients, family members and caregivers. Inside the Garden is a walkway of engraved bricks in memory or honor of caregivers and community members.

Available through Patient Access, we offer free interpreter services to ensure patients can receive medical information in their own language.

Patient Rooms

Patients who stay in the hospital overnight are cared for in large, private patient rooms with plenty of space and sleeper couches to accommodate family members. All rooms have telephones and TV’s available for your convenience and comfort.

Roeser Walking Trail

The Roeser Walking Trail is a 1.2-mile outdoor walking path around the hospital that starts at the Healing Garden. Supported by caregivers and community members, the trail is dedicated to Bill Roeser, retired President of Ionia, and his wife Marcia, a longtime UM Health-Sparrow Hospital nurse.

Experience the benefit of health and wellbeing of the community we serve. The trail is available as weather permits.

At our Cancer Center we offer oncology diagnostics, chemotherapy, hematology, drug therapies and more for our patients. Providing clinical care services in Ionia is UM Health-Sparrow Cancer Center physician, Muhammad Hamdan, M.D., board-certified in Oncology/Hematology and Internal Medicine.

UM Health-Sparrow Ionia’s cardiac rehabilitation service offers individualized programs to help patients with heart conditions regain and maintain stronger cardio/pulmonary function through education, exercise, and self-awareness. Inpatient Services

Whether you are recovering from an illness, injury or surgery, you can count on our compassionate, caring medical/surgical unit caregivers to provide excellent care in a safe, clean and comfortable environment.

Located on the second floor, the unit provides inpatient services for all conditions in 22 private rooms with all the amenities of home. Staffed by specially-trained registered nurses and certified nurses' assistants, the medical/surgical care team makes sure patients receive the hospital services they need including physician and nursing care, physical therapy, dietary services, respiratory therapy and pharmacy services.

The UM Health-Sparrow Ionia is a full-service laboratory. It is integrated with Laboratories to provide expanded testing and consultative services. Laboratory services are provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The rehabilitation team is comprised of licensed healthcare professionals trained in the areas of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy treating adult and pediatric populations. Inpatient therapy is available for patients in the hospital. Therapists work closely with the physicians to offer coordinated care that fully addresses each patient’s needs.

If you have trouble breathing because of asthma, emphysema, COPD, lung disease or seasonal respiratory infections, our expert team is here to help you breathe better. Ionia respiratory therapists are specially trained to care for a variety of lung and respiratory conditions.  We work in the hospital to assist patients whose condition needs immediate attention. Our goal is to find the treatment that works best for you.
