About Ronald McDonald House
The Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan, adjacent to UM Health-Sparrow Lansing, is a home away from home for families of hospitalized children. Providing a small amount of normalcy in a very abnormal situation, the Ronald McDonald House is a place to rest, shower, relax, catch up on phone calls, get a hot meal or do laundry.
The eight-bedroom, 10,000 square foot house has a bed-and-breakfast feel, with a group living area, kitchen, laundry facilities, library and a children's play room. It is staffed 24 hours a day by a resident house manager and a staff of volunteers.
No Cost to You
The House is here for any family member or principal caregiver of an ill child regardless of economic situation. Guests are asked to donate $10 per night during their stay, but it is not a requirement for services and no one will be turned away for inability to contribute. The Ronald McDonald House will also bill FIA and Children's Special Healthcare Services for families that live more than 50 miles away.
The Ronald McDonald House gives priority to families traveling more than 30 minutes to the hospital. A nurse, social worker or physician can complete a referral if you wish to stay at the House.
You may check in any time of the day or night, although we do ask that check-ins occur between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. if at all possible.
