Sparrow focuses on women’s heart health during Heart Month

Published: February 9, 2021

LANSING, MI – February is Heart Month and Sparrow is sponsoring several free online events to focus on an often overlooked aspect of cardiac care: women.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States and it’s often misunderstood in females. Women are also more likely to overlook symptoms and delay seeking care.

Sparrow is offering a three-part Women’s Heart Health Webinar Series led by trusted Sparrow professionals covering all aspects of heart health. Find registration information at

The first session, Women’s Heart Health: Take Action, Know Your Numbers, is from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10. You’ll learn important factors to reduce your risk of heart disease and keep your heart healthy from Nurse Practitioner Nicole Taylor of Sparrow Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery and Registered Nurse Emily Oberst of Sparrow Health and Wellness.

A Feb. 17 session will cover heart healthy cooking, while a link will be available Feb. 21 for an online yoga class designed to bring balance to mind and body.
