IONIA, Mich. – To mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Mobile Health Clinic will provide free women’s health screenings, including screening mammography, at three Mid-Michigan locations in October.
The events are scheduled for:
-- Friday, Oct. 10, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at UM Health-Sparrow Ionia, 3565 S. State St., Ionia.
-- Monday, Oct. 13, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at UM Health-Sparrow Carson, 406 E. Elm St., Carson City.
-- Friday, Oct. 17, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at UM Health-Sparrow Lansing Health Center, 2909 E. Grand River Ave., Lansing.
Appointments can be made by calling 616-523-1630.
This initiative provides critical benefits to the community by addressing common barriers to health care. The free service eliminates the cost of a mammogram, a significant hurdle for uninsured or underinsured individuals. Bringing the service directly to communities via a mobile clinic also alleviates transportation challenges for those in rural areas or with limited mobility, making preventive care more accessible.
