UM Health-Sparrow Clinton names 2024 Nurses of the Year

St. Johns, Mich. – University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Clinton is honored to announce its 2024 Co-Nurses of the Year, Billi Ney, R.N., and Kari Simon, R.N.

Ney, an administrative nursing supervisor, has been part of the UM Health-Sparrow Clinton team since 2015. She was nominated for her willingness to go above and beyond for her patients, how she addresses situations head on and always does her job with compassion, empathy and knowledge to support everyone.

“Having Ney part of our team is an honor. She exemplifies the word TEAM. Ney is willing to work in all nursing units and is committed to providing nonviolence crisis intervention education to our team members,” said Mariah Hesse, BSN, R.N., CENP, Chief Nursing Officer, UM Health-Sparrow Carson and Clinton.

Simon, has been part of the team since 1998 and provides patients compassionate care at University of Michigan Health-Sparrow St. Johns General Surgery. Simon was nominated by her colleagues for demonstrating dedication, advocating for her patients, and efforts to streamline processes to ensure patients are provided the best possible care.

“I have had the privilege and honor to work with Kari over the past twenty years. She is an amazing nurse that is dedicated and committed to her patients and our organization! Kari is collaborative, compassionate, skilled, professional and a true resource to her team members”, said Hesse.

Also recognized with multiple patient nominations, was the medical surgical/specialty care department with a Team DAISY Award.
