Sparrow Physician, former Chief Medical Officer honored

Larry Rawsthorne, M.D., was recently recognized by the Capital Area Health Alliance (CAHA) as the 2014 recipient of its Physician Recruitment and Retention Leadership Award.

CAHA is a coalition of organizations, businesses, health care professionals, and volunteers from Clinton, Eaton and Ingham Counties, working together to empower the region to achieve better health.

“I’m honored,” said Rawsthorne after accepting the award at CAHA’s annual meeting.

Dr. Rawsthorne currently practices as an intensivist in Sparrow’s Intensive Care Units (ICUs). He was formerly Sparrow’s Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs and Vice President of Medical Services at Physicians Health Plan (PHP).

In his past positions, Dr. Rawsthorne was directly involved with recruiting Physicians to the region and he remains dedicated to meet with potential candidates and share his experiences in the medical community.
