More than 150 Volunteers from throughout the area were recently honored for their service to Sparrow Patients and the mid-Michigan region at the Sparrow Women’s Hospital Association’s 120th Annual Meeting and Luncheon.
Longtime Sparrow Volunteer Janet Hines, recently honored as “Volunteer of the Year” by Capital Region United Way, was presented with the 60-year service award.
“The number of hours, days, and years our Volunteers have dedicated to improving the health of the people of mid-Michigan and serving with compassion is simply staggering,” said Melissa Sherry, Sparrow Volunteer Services Director. “We strive for unparalleled quality of care at Sparrow. These Volunteers are proof that it takes a village to provide it.”
Four Volunteers were honored for 50 years of service: Virginia Cherf, Suzanne Fabian, Mary Lou Rowlett, and Deanna Strolle. Margaret Hedlund, Marilyn Mooney, Barbara Potter, and Merrilyn Vaughn were presented with awards for 45 years of Volunteer service.
