Sparrow Forensic Pathology Services Issues 2023 Q1 Report

LANSING, MI – Sparrow Forensic Pathology Services has released its Q1 report on drug-related deaths in the seven counties in which Sparrow serves as Medical Examiner.

The report shows an overall decline in drug-related deaths from Jan. 1 to March 30, 2023, compared to the same period in 2022 and the last quarter of last year. The report provides detail on each drug death and the type of drug involved. As the Office of the Medical Examiner for the seven counties (Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Ionia, Isabella, Livingston, and Shiawassee), Sparrow is nationally accredited by the National Association of Medical Examiners to perform autopsies, postmortem examinations, and on-scene forensic death investigations as an important part of the investigation process.
