CARSON CITY, MI – Caregivers at Sparrow Carson Hospital are excited to welcome the first baby delivered in 2018.

Valentin Medrano-Betancurt was born Jan. 4 at 9:25 a.m. to parents Argelia Betancurt and Francisco Medrano of Crystal in Montcalm County. He weighed 6 pounds, 6 ounces, and measured 19 inches long.

Valentin’s four siblings – Sonia, Jesus, Yesenia, and Francisco – are excited to welcome the new addition and were thrilled to learn he was the New Year Baby at Sparrow Carson Hospital.

“He’s the greatest gift we could receive for the new year,” said Betancurt.

As the New Year Baby, his family was presented with items donated by Sparrow Carson Hospital, including a car seat, teddy bear, gift cards, and much more.

Valentin was delivered by J. David Spencer, D.O. and nurses Morgan Stoneman, RN, and Michele Wetzel, RN.
