Sparrow Carson Hospital has received five stars for the quality of its Spinal Fusion Surgery program from Healthgrades, the leading online resource helping consumers make informed decisions. This achievement is part of new findings and data released on Healthgrades.com and in the Healthgrades 2016 Report to the Nation.
“A 5-star Healthgrades rating indicates that Sparrow Carson Hospital places the health and safety of our patients above all else. I applaud our Caregivers for their dedication to our Patients. They are the reason we were given such an impressive rating,” said Matt Thompson, Sparrow Carson Hospital President and CEO.
For its analysis, Healthgrades evaluated approximately 40 million Medicare inpatient records for nearly 4,500 short-term acute care hospitals nationwide, and assessed hospital performance relative to each of 33 common conditions and procedures. Sparrow Carson Hospital is the only hospital in mid-Michigan to receive a 5-star rating in spinal fusion for 2016.
“Our Caregivers provide thoughtful, consistent care from pre-op to discharge and pay specific attention to details. The standards we’ve established contributed greatly to our success,” said Joseph White, M.D., Sparrow Carson Hospital Orthopedic Surgeon.
