RNICU families receive Christmas gift packages

Published: Dec. 31, 2013

Families spending Christmas in Sparrow's Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit were treated with cute and thoughtful gift packages from NICU PALs, a group of former RNICU families.

The packages included a frame, an ornament, a poem, a stuffed animal, candy, lotion, hand sanitizer and snacks, and were meant to bring cheer to families of babies in the RNICU. The RNICU cares for babies born prematurely or with other complications.

Thanks to the PALs group, who is partnering with medical staff to find new ways to provide family-centered care.

Each year Sparrow's RNICU cares for nearly 600 acutely ill infants from throughout mid-Michigan. The RNICU team provides each infant with care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Sparrow's RNICU offers multiple treatment options and specialized equipment designed to support each infant's developmental needs.
