On Tuesday, Nov. 11, more than 2,400 first through third grade students from the Lansing School District participated in the first of two scheduled Mini-Medical Schools.
Put on by the Michigan Osteopathic Association with local sponsors including Sparrow, the event takes kids through nine stations where they learned about bones, medical instruments, hygiene/germs, organs, nutrition, vision, dental, exercise, and was capped off with a photo shoot in their doctor’s coat and stethoscope.
Through this program young children learn about how the human body works and what they can do to help keep their body healthy – through teeth cleaning, healthy eating, exercise and hand washing - while interacting with Physicians in a fun way to make them feel more comfortable with doctors and to inspire an interest in medicine.

A second Mini-Medical School is scheduled in December for fourth and fifth graders.
