The Sparrow Women’s Board of Managers and the Sparrow Volunteer Services Department have named Margaret Bove the February Volunteer of the Month. Bove started volunteering at Sparrow in her sophomore year at MSU in 2015. She is part of the very large group of college students volunteering at Sparrow. It was noticed soon that she had leadership qualities and has used them in a coordinator’s position by helping other students get their required hours for the semester and showing a willingness to help in other areas. She has volunteered in Radiology, Health Awareness and soon, the Wound Clinic at the St. Lawrence campus. She did an excellent job in representing the college program in the Malcolm Baldridge interviews.
Bove has spent time in other countries such as Honduras with the “Global Brigade” a national program through MSU. She has been on the “Public Health Brigade” building stoves and latrines.
She grew up in Grosse Point, MI and now lives on campus at MSU. Her parents are, Paul and Kristen Bove and she has two brothers, Matthew and Luke, two dogs and a cat.
She studied ballet and has joined the MSU Dance Club.
Bove has studied abroad in London, and visited Spain, France, Ireland and Amsterdam.
Since 2016, she has been working in the Bleeding and Clotting Disorders Department at MSU.
A friend told Bove about the Sparrow volunteer opportunity and she feels it is a great experience for her as a person, but also as a pre-med student graduating in May this year.
