LANSING, Mich.– As National Rural Health Day approaches on Thursday, Nov. 20, University of Michigan Health-Sparrow is proud to spotlight the incredible work of our community hospitals in Carson City, Charlotte, Ionia, St. Johns and throughout Mid-Michigan.
These hospitals embody the "power of rural" by providing essential, compassionate care to our neighbors.
The national observance is held the third Thursday of each November to celebrate the “power of rural,” which honors the unique strengths and dedicated providers serving rural America.
Our Carson City hospital is demonstrating a robust commitment to growth with the recent opening of a new cardiac rehabilitation center. This expansion is part of a capital investment of over $15 million from U-M Health in UM Health-Sparrow Carson over three years.
A recent ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrated the new center, which provides heart patients in the region with vital, medically supervised recovery services close to home.
“Now people don't have to travel far away from Carson City. We're bringing this right to them,” said Tan Li, D.O., a family medicine physician. The new center joins our network of cardiac rehab locations across Mid-Michigan, offering patients a program of exercise and education designed to help them achieve their optimal health after a cardiac event.
For decades, the team at UM Health-Sparrow Ionia has been a trusted health care partner. Since opening its state-of-the-art, LEED-certified facility in 2015, the hospital has expanded its services and technology to better serve patients.
A key service is the UM Health-Sparrow Ionia Infusion Center, where team members provide critical care, including oncology diagnostics, chemotherapy, hematology and other drug therapies. Their work ensures patients facing serious illnesses can receive advanced treatment without traveling far from their support systems.
Growth extends beyond the walls of our hospitals. UM Health-Sparrow primary care offices continue to serve communities across the region, with clinics in Carson City, Fowler, Greenville, Ithaca and Stanton, emphasizing that timely access to a primary care doctor is a priority for a healthy community.
